How Much More: Desert Series 16X20 Framed Mixed Media Oil
Original Mixed Media Oil Paintings | 16 × 20 inches
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
— Matthew 6:26
The Desert Series continues the story of How Much More, a collection inspired by Jesus’ reminder to look at the birds.
Against Arizona skies, rugged mountains, saguaros and desert blooms, these small creatures simply live within the place they have been given. They do not know what tomorrow holds, yet provision surrounds them.
There is something in that I need to remember. God’s care does not always mean an easy landscape. Sometimes it looks like everything we need being provided right in the middle of the desert.
Enough for Today
Hummingbird- A hummingbird moves among the desert blooms, taking what has been provided in this moment. Enough for Today is a reminder that we do not have to gather enough grace for tomorrow. God meets us here, in the day we have been given, with what we need for this moment.
Where He Provides
Gambel’s Quail- Small against the enormous Arizona landscape, the quail could easily be overlooked. And yet it belongs here. There is shelter among the cactus, nourishment in unlikely places, and provision woven throughout the desert. Where He Provides is a reminder that what looks barren to us is never beyond God’s ability to sustain.
Made for This Place
Roadrunner- The roadrunner was created for an environment that would seem inhospitable to many—quick, resilient and uniquely equipped for the terrain beneath its feet. Made for This Place speaks to the possibility that the place we find ourselves may not be accidental. God knows the landscape ahead of us, and He is able to equip us for the ground He asks us to walk.
